Kuroko’s Basketball is a Japanese sports manga series written and illustrated by Tadatoshi Fujimaki. It tells the story of a high school basketball team trying to make it to the national tournament. It was adapted into an anime television series by Production I.G, which aired for three seasons from April 2012 to June 2015.

Here in the Philippines, the said sports anime became popular when it first aired on Free TV via ABS-CBN in 2013. For the first time, Kuroko’s Basketball was dubbed in the Filipino language. The following month, it was aired via the defunct pay TV anime channel HERO TV. Seasons 1 and 2 of the said anime aired on ABS-CBN, while HERO TV continued airing it until season 3 before finally leaving the said pay TV anime channel in 2018. However, season 3 did not air on ABS-CBN, but it was aired through their defunct kids channel on digital free TV YeY !.

Kuroko’s Basketball is a story of Tetsuya Kuroko who was known as a “phantom sixth man” of the Generation of Miracles, the legendary lineup of Teikou Middle School. Tetsuya Kuroko together with Taiga Kagami became a member of the Seirin High School Basketball Team. As Kuroko wants to prove to the Seirin team that he is strong in his own way, Kagami forms a dynamic partnership with Kuroko, the latter promising to support Kagami’s “light” as his “shadow.” Alongside their new Seirin teammates, they aim to conquer the upcoming Interhigh championship, but the reappearance of Kuroko’s former teammates complicates their plan.
